Of all the things to find in the wasteland of Carcadia Burn in Borderlands 4, a legendary band called Thrum Dumpster probably wasn't on your initial checklist. Nonetheless, Lisa seeks your help in finding the new voice of their group. Here's how to complete The Power Ballad of Rodd Vomit side mission, including all objectives and rewards.

Mission Details

Pickup Location: Lisa FullFolja at The Couch Hole in Carcadian Burn (southeast of The Rustical Hurl silo)

Rewards: XP, Cash, Weapon (Uncommon or Epic), Trendy Collection Vault Hunter Head Customization

Starting The Power Ballad of Rodd Vomit Quest

Speak to Lisa FullFolja in The Couch Hole to pick up the quest. She'll mention that their original vocalist, Rodd Vomit, didn't survive his crash landing onto Kairos, so Thrum Dumpster is on the hunt for a new one.

Lisa's already picked a few candidates for the job, and offers you a "Digi-Dongle" to ensure they cooperate. Take it from her, and she'll then go tell a woman nearby that she didn't make the cut.

This turns her hostile, so Lisa asks you to "calm her down" with a few bullets. After that, she'll ask you to use the Digi-Dongle to demonstrate its effectiveness. Do so, and it seems almost too effective.

Nonetheless, Lisa then asks you to seek out her three candidates appropriately named Big Suck, Crunch Tongue, and Sketch Calhoun.

Check your map, and they're all relatively spread out across Carcadia Burn. You can tackle them in any order, but we'll start with Sketch Calhoun as he's closest to the quest starting point.

How to Recruit Sketch Calhoun in Borderlands 4

If you start with the one closest to the west (near the Arch of Radix vault), this is Sketch Calhoun's location. Eliminate the Rippers camped out in front of his club, then approach the entrance.

Turns out it's locked, so you'll need to find the alternate way in. Make your way around to it, and remember you can use ECHO-4's extremely handy Echo Location feature to find your way more easily.

Once you find the door, head through it, and inside you'll find Sketch Calhoun surrounded by a mosh pit of Rippers.

Initially they're docile, but once Sketch demands to see you join the mosh, they'll turn hostile. Eliminate them with your weapon of choice as they come charging.

Soon, Sketch will join the violent mosh pit himself, and you'll need to damage him enough to use the Digi-Dongle. Once he stops attacking and hunches over, use it and Lisa will pass her thanks along.

Finding and Recruiting Big Suck in Borderlands 4

You can reach Big Suck quickest by teleporting to the Makeshift Chalet safehouse, if you have it claimed. From there, he's right down the road. Otherwise, hop on your vehicle and head south.

Once you're close by, someone named Branthony will come on comms, warning that Rippers are ambushing them and pleads for help. Since Big Suck is also a Ripper, Lisa asks you to check it out.

Head for the One Pumper refueling station by the road, and take out the Rippers sprinkled around the perimeter. Approach the door on the left side of the building, and it'll open to reveal Big Suck himself, strumming an air guitar solo.

Flanked by more Rippers, you'll need to take them out, then beat up Big Suck until he buckles long enough for you to use the Digi-Dongle.

Do so, and Lisa will thank you for your efforts while hoping Big Suck's vocals live up to their reputation of restorative properties.

Locating and Recruiting Crunch Tongue in Borderlands 4

Last but not least, Crunch Tongue is found to the east near the Tendercage drill site. His location is a bit more obscure, so consider using your Echo Location feature for this one.

Once you find this small lake, swim through into the canyon ahead and then head up a ladder. At the top, you'll find a narrow area where Crunch Tongue and some of his Ripper lackeys are holed up.

Wrangling Crunch Tongue can feel a bit awkward, as he'll immediately be hostile from the get-go, along with those around him. Deal with them first, but you may accidentally "eliminate" Crunch Tongue in the process. If you do, there's no need to worry as he'll just respawn in as the objective updates.

At one point, he'll ask you to blow the horn nearby (aptly called "The Horn That Blows"). Do so, and this will summon a horde of Pangolins from the den nearby.

Eliminate them, while Crunch Tongue participates, and then he'll tell you to blow the horn again.

Do so, and this time it'll be a Badass Pango Mount with a rider, and they pack quite a punch. Focus on taking them down first, then turn your attention to Crunch Tongue.

Whittle down their health, then use the Digi-Dongle. With that, Lisa will ask you to come back to The Couch Hole to see the sound check with these new candidates.

Completing The Sound Check Finale

Make your way back there and enjoy the show, which turns out to be surprisingly good. By the end of it, however, Lisa is apparently far less than impressed and tells you to "kill the talent".

With that, the trio of candidates will turn hostile, and you'll sadly need to eliminate them. Once they're dealt with, talk to Lisa, and she'll reveal that "killing" their dreams in both senses was the plan all along for content clout, or something.

Either way, the mission will then conclude, and you'll receive your base rewards. This includes XP, Cash, a random Uncommon or Epic weapon, and the Trendy Collection Vault Hunter Head Customization.
