Originally scheduled for September 23, 2025, Gearbox announced on April 30, 2025 that they were moving the release date forward to September 12, 2025.

The studio stated this change was due to their confidence in the game's completion status, and not in response to other major releases (like GTA 6).

Pre-Order Bonus: The Gilded Glory Pack

Pre-ordering Borderlands 4 grants you The Gilded Glory Pack, which includes cosmetics usable by all Vault Hunters:

• 1 Vault Hunter skin
• 2 Vault Hunter heads (including the new Ripper mask)
• 1 weapon skin
• 1 ECHO-4 drone skin

The pack also includes four pieces of Legendary Gear that will be added later as an upgrade.

What to Expect from Borderlands 4

Gearbox Software seems to be addressing many of the complaints fans had with Borderlands 3, promising a return to form with:

• A darker-toned story
• Returning fan-favorite characters

• Expanded endgame content

The game is set to launch on September 12, 2025, for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, Steam, and Epic Games Store, with the Nintendo Switch 2 version following on October 3, 2025.
