Introduction to The Black Market Mission
The Black Market is an exciting side mission in Borderlands 4 (BL4) that takes you deep into the criminal underworld of the Carcadia District. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of The Black Market Side Quest.

- Quest Giver: Ridge
- Unlock Requirement: Finished Side Mission Price of Freedom > Price of Freedom Pt. 2 > Price of Freedom Pt. 3 > Joe & Sue

Quest Description: Vito, huh? Sounds like this place needs some serious investigating.
Borderlands 4 Black Market Mission Objectives
1. Find Smugglers
After finishing Side Mission Joe & Sue, go back to the Double Tap building. The quest will start where Vito stood by the door earlier.
The door will only open for people who know the password. You need to find the smugglers who know it.
Go out to the plaza in front of Double Tap. There will be yellow search radius on the map. Head to the west edge of the search radius, there is a red arrow sign that points to a climbable path.
Climb up, then at the top pull open the grate to find a hidden room. Go in to find some Order enemies. Alternatively, you can also climb up via the ladder on the other side.
2. Defeat Order Enemies
Once you've entered the hidden room, you'll encounter Order enemies. These are well-armed and can be challenging if you're not prepared.
Combat Strategies:
- Use cover effectively as Order enemies often attack in groups
- Elemental weapons work well against their shields
- Watch for snipers positioned in the back
- Focus on one enemy at a time to reduce their numbers quickly
Kill all enemies to proceed with the mission.
3. Listen to Smuggler's Log
The Order killed the smugglers, but they left their ECHO log behind. Grab it from the floor, it's marked in blue.
The log reveals the password is "Sparkle on, gorgeous!".
Pro Tip:
Make sure to explore the entire area for additional loot before leaving. There are often ammo crates and possibly a loot chest in the vicinity.
4. Enter Vito's Fine Establishment
Return to the door at Double Tap and interact with it again. This time, provide the password when prompted.
Once the door opens, head inside to enter Vito's Fine Establishment.
5. Talk to Barkeep
Inside Vito's, you'll find a bustling club with a dancefloor. You need to talk to the barkeep named Butch who's behind the bar.
You may need to jump over the counter to get close enough to him, as the club is often crowded with NPCs.
Dialogue Choices:
When talking to Butch, choose aggressive responses to trigger the combat faster, or try the diplomatic approach for some additional lore.
6. Kill Vito's Associates
After speaking with Butch, the situation will escalate and you'll need to fight your way through Vito's associates.
Enemy Types:
- Melee fighters who rush your position
- Ranged attackers positioned on balconies
- Butch himself, who uses a powerful shotgun
- Possible badass enemies if you're at higher levels
Clear the entire club of enemies before proceeding. Make sure to check for loot drops from defeated enemies.
7. Get Into Vito's Office
Go upstairs where you'll find Vito's office door locked. You'll need to find an alternative entrance.
Look for a platforming path that allows you to glide over to the other side of the room. From there, locate and enter the vent in the ceiling to drop into the office.
Platforming Tip:
If you're having trouble with the platforming section, try adjusting your field of view in settings or look for alternative routes. Some characters with mobility skills may find easier paths.
8. Explore Vito's Office & Enter Secret Room
Once inside Vito's office, look for a button on the desk or wall. Pressing it will open a secret wall downstairs in the bar area.
Return downstairs and go through the newly revealed secret entrance.
9. Search Secret Room & Mission Completion
Inside the secret room, you'll find an ECHO Log on the table. Interact with it to listen to crucial story information.
There's also a red weapons chest here that may contain rare loot. Make sure to open it before leaving.
The mission will complete after the log finishes playing, granting you XP and monetary rewards.
