Complete guide to the "Overwriting a Wrong" side mission in Borderlands 4
"Overwriting a Wrong" is an engaging side mission in Borderlands 4 (BL4) that becomes available after completing Main Mission 18: Means of Ascent. In this quest, you'll help Terry, the creator of The Timekeeper's killer drones, reprogram them to be less... lethal.
Mission Details
- Starting Location: Dominion > Carcadia District
- Quest Giver: Terry
- Reward: XP, Money, SMG (Green or Purple rarity)
Borderlands 4 Overwriting a Wrong Starting Location
To begin the Overwriting a Wrong mission in Borderlands 4, head to the Carcadia District in Dominion. Look for Terry located in a building in the southern part of this area. The location will be marked on your map once you unfog the area near it.
Terry accidentally created the drones that fly around the city for the Timekeeper, and he needs your help to upload a virus that will reprogram them.
Borderlands 4 Overwriting a Wrong Objectives Guide
1. Take Modified ECHO Log
Terry will hand you a modified ECHO log. Accept it to begin your mission of hacking into the drone network.
2. Enter Drone Factory
Use the grappling point located above Terry and proceed through the gate to access the drone factory area.
3. Find Complete Drone
After entering the factory area, head left to find a complete drone on the back of a truck. This is your target for the virus upload.
4. Start Virus Upload to Drone
Interact with the complete drone to begin the virus upload process. The hack will immediately fail because jammers are blocking the signal. Terry will then instruct you to destroy the three jammers.
Dealing with Jammers
First Jammer
Located in the north of the same area, on the roof of a small building.
- Reach the first jammer
- Hack the computer on the roof
- Destroy the red triangles floating above the computer
Note: Enemies will spawn after destroying the nodes.
Second Jammer
Located at the west end of the same area.
- Use the second computer
- Destroy ONLY the red triangles, not the blue balls
Important: If you hit a blue ball, the hack fails and you must restart this jammer.
Third Jammer
Found at the south end of the area. Use the grappling point to access the upper level.
- Again, destroy only the red triangles
- Avoid hitting the blue balls
Return to Drone
After dealing with all three jammers, return to the drone you found earlier on the back of the truck.
Upload Virus and Destroy Red Order Nodes
Interact with the drone again to restart the virus upload. This time it should work correctly.
Just like with the jammers, red triangles will appear above the drone. Shoot only the red triangles and avoid the blue balls.
Code Compiled
A counter will appear on the left side of your screen, slowly updating from 0 to 100. Enemies will spawn during this process - fend them off while waiting for the process to complete.
Critical Upload Interruptions
- At 60% progress: The compiler stops and shows "IMMUNE" above the drone. Shoot the single red triangle flying above it to continue.
- At 70% progress: Another interruption occurs - destroy the red triangles again.
- At 92% progress: Final interruption - destroy the red triangles one last time.
Warning: If you hit any blue balls during these interruptions, the upload will stop and you'll need to restart the virus upload process.
Mission Complete!
Once the compiler reaches 100%, Terry will contact you, and the Overwriting a Wrong mission will be complete. Enjoy your rewards: XP, money, and an SMG of green or purple rarity!
