How to Unlock No Place Like Home in Borderlands 4

To start the No Place Like Home mission, you need to first reach the Hungering Plain area in Borderlands 4 and locate Claptrap.

Claptrap is located outside of a house by the river in the western part of the Hungering Plain, west of The Flarewell. You'll find him next to a campfire, complaining about something as usual.

  • Reach character level 12

1. Find the Portrait

Once you've accepted the mission from Claptrap, head east to the Order base in The Flarewell. Be prepared for resistance from Order soldiers in this area.

Clear the entrance of enemies and look for the Big Orange Hothead, a mini-boss enemy. Defeat him to obtain the keycard from his body. This enemy has flame-based attacks, so fire resistance gear is helpful.

Make your way southeast of The Flarewell and go under the crates next to the medium-sized building. Interact with the switch to open a door to the depot.

Jump down to the depot and proceed forward inside. Climb the ladder to reach an orange-lit room full of pictures. The portrait will be on the table in the center of this room.

2. Retrieve VR-ON1CA's Processor

After obtaining the portrait, the door on the right will open. Enter and head upstairs to leave the depot and return to the surface.

Head south of The Flarewell to the bunker location, where you'll find VR-ON1CA's processor. Interact with the button next to the laser on the right to activate the puzzle mechanism.

Position the sonar panels by following the laser's direction. Use your grappling hook to rotate each panel until the laser hits the next one, then rotate it again and repeat until the laser reaches the bunker. This may require some trial and error.

Pro Tip:

Look for the faint glow on each panel that indicates where the laser should be directed. The panels make a distinct clicking sound when properly aligned.

Once the bunker opens, enter and retrieve VR-ON1CA's processor on top of the crate nearby. Be cautious as the bunker may have defensive traps or enemies.

3. Find the Crimson Resistance Asset

Continue deeper inside the bunker and climb the wall on the left to reach the outside area. The wall has clearly marked climbing holds.

Start ascending the tower. Be mindful of the climbable walls and panels you can rotate with your grappling hook to help traverse it. Watch out for occasional enemy patrols.

Once at the top, open the red porter potty to find the corpse of the Crimson Resistance asset. Yes, it's as glamorous as it sounds.

Take Rustknuckle's mask from the corpse and return to Claptrap, where he will ask you to blow up the items you collected as part of his questionable plan.

Grab the two bombs from the table near Claptrap and place them on the raft by the river. Be careful not to drop them or you'll have to start over!

Wait for Claptrap to push the raft and signal you to shoot it, causing it to explode in a satisfyingly large fireball. This will complete the mission.

Note:

You may need to wait a few moments for Claptrap to finish his dialogue before the raft is ready to be shot. Don't waste ammo shooting too early!
