Borderlands 4 And Welcome to the Jam Walkthrough
There's no shortage of strange adventures to find around Carcadia Burn in Borderlands 4, and this one brings you to the top of a tower to fulfill a scientist's literal death wish. Here's how to complete And Welcome to the Jam side mission, including all objectives and rewards.
Mission Details
- Pickup Location: Echo Log belonging to Parker Taurasi in The Tenterhooks (Tonnage Peel region)
- Rewards: XP and Cash
- Mission Type: Side Quest
- Recommended Level: 24-26
How to Start And Welcome to the Jam Mission in Borderlands 4
Find this poor dead scientist's body at the top of a tower with what looks like signal equipment. Pick up the ECHO Log next to the body to find out what they were trying to accomplish, which seems to be contacting lifeforms not on Kairos.
You'll need to start by finding equipment in two nearby locations, including a tracking board and a signal loop. Check your map, and you'll find them a short distance northwest and southwest.
Finding the Signal Loop in Borderlands 4 Welcome to the Jam
The southwest location is at Quisling's Cave, and here you'll find the Signal Loop. Only problem is that it's a little out of reach, stuck to the end of a giant, partially sunken machine.
Pro Tip:
You'll need to climb onto the machine to retrieve it. Watch out for the native wildlife in the area - they can be aggressive if you get too close to their nests.
Locating the Tracking Board in Borderlands 4 Welcome to the Jam Quest
Head a couple hundred meters north to Camp Spinesquelch. Since it's a Ripper camp, you'll need to clear the place out first before it's safe to search. It also unlocks a red weapon chest in the center of the camp, so even more incentive to do so.
Combat Strategy:
The Rippers at Camp Spinesquelch are mostly melee fighters. Keep your distance and use area-of-effect weapons to handle groups. Watch for the Ripper Captain who has a rocket launcher!
Once done, head for the tower at the back of the camp and look up. Grapple up to the tower's platform and there you'll find the Tracking Board. It also serves as the parts for the antennae, so two birds with one stone.
With that done, head back to the nearby tower to put it all together.
How to Set Up the Signal in Borderlands 4 Welcome to the Jam Mission
Once you've made it back up to the tower, place the Tracking Board in the requested spot on the machine, then the Signal Loop in a spot on the underside.
Puzzle Solution:
If you're having trouble finding the correct placement spots, look for the glowing blue indicators on the equipment. The Tracking Board attaches to the main console, while the Signal Loop connects to the underside of the dish.
With that done, go over to the control panel nearby and hit the button to power up the antenna. As it turns to the skies, something will suddenly come crashing down from the atmosphere and land right at your feet.
Borderlands 4 Welcome to the Jam: Dunks Watson Reunion
It turns out to be a man named Dunks Watson. If you happened to play Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, he last made his appearance in that iteration of the series as part of a mission to perform the Ultimate Slam Dunk from Elpis. He also made a brief, albeit chilly cameo in Borderlands 3 near Sanctuary III.
Character Backstory:
Dunks Watson first appeared in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel as part of the "Ultimate Slam Dunk" side mission where players helped him achieve his dream of dunking a basketball from Elpis to Pandora. His reappearance here continues his bizarre journey through the Borderlands universe.
Now, 14 years later, he's made it to Kairos after doing what he set out to do. Penelope Streams immediately appears, beside herself at finding this interstellar legend, and interviews him about his experience.
When you're able, speak to him, and he'll then say it's time for him to go before he vanishes. With that surreal experience done, the mission concludes with base rewards provided.
